Event Description

We've adopted a beach and now we are going to help clean up the watershed leading to the ocean. Join us as we help Friends of the LA River (FoLAR) with their annual clean up. Event will run from 9am-12pm.

FoLAR estimates more than 25 tons of garbage will be pulled out of the 15 river clean-up sites!

Gloves and trash bags will be provided by FoLAR.  To keep up volunteer enthusiasm you'll find a fun and festive "work party" atmosphere livened up with gift giveaways, raffle prizes, entertainment and refreshments at each site!

One Brick volunteers will be located in Griffith Park at Bette Davis Picnic Area. Bette Davis Picnic Area is at the upstream end of the scenic Glendale Narrows, the central and longest natural area of the LA River. The picnic area features wonderful tall old sycamore trees, a grassy picnic area, and a beautiful 1938 historic bridge. The River has sloped concrete sides and an earthen bottom, with tall trees, sandbar islands, and lots of birds, including ducks, stilts, egrets and herons. See map: http://folar.org/wp-contentuploads/2011/04/map_bette_davis_rigali_parking_2011.jpg

Last year Griffith Park volunteers pulled 2,200 lbs. of trash out of the river! Expect to get dirty for a great cause :)
