Once again, One Brickers from acrocc the country will be convening in St. Bernard Parish from May 5th until May 13th. Join volunteers from around the country on another trip to take part in this incredible volunteer effort to rebuild the Gulf Coast.

NOTE: We charge vounteers to attend this event. Please make sure you purchase a place on the eventbrite page. If you do not purchase a place then we will not be able to accomodate you. The $200 fee includes housing for the week, a welcome dinner on Sunday night, a thank you dinner towards the end of the week and food staples (breakfast, lunch, coffee, ...) for the house. This event always sells out. We recommend you purchase your place as soon as possible.

St. Bernard Parish remains one of the most devastated communities in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Located to the southeast of New Orleans, St. Bernard suffered significant structural damage to 100% of its residential and commercial units, rendering them completely uninhabitable.

Over five years after the 2005 hurricanes, the residents feel a huge sense of abandonment, as there is little support from the local and Federal government to help get their lives back to normal. The future of St. Bernard Parish lies heavily in the hands of volunteers. One Brick has been providing a steady stream of volunteers to this area with trips to the region every year since.

One Brick will be working with the incredible nonprofit organization: The St. Bernard Project (www.stbernardproject.org).

We won't know specifically what we will be working on until we arrive. However, no building experience is necessary, as there will be on-site training and supervisors there to help guide us.

On your first day, you will receive your assigned task on the project home, and be trained for that task. We ask that you please continue working at the same home until that stage of the project is completed. This ensures forward progress on the home without re-training volunteers daily.  Typical tasks include: hanging drywall, installing flooring, painting trimwork, and mold remediation.

We work Monday through Friday, from 8:00a.m. to about 4:00 p.m. Materials for pack lunches are available at breakfast, or you can try the local cuisine. Evenings are free for the volunteers to relax, or discover downtown N'orleans etc..

For lodging, will be returning to the Mustard Seed Volunteer House: http://www.mustardseedmins.com/Mission%20House.html A one-week stay at the Volunteer house costs $200 per person, and includes bunk-bed sleeping in one of the five bedrooms plus breakfast everyday, a welcome meal on the Sunday evening and an evening meal out with the volunteer group. Your $200 includes lodging until Sunday 13th May at 12noon.

Volunteers are responsible for all travel, housing, meal and transportation costs. Not sure if you can afford it? Consider asking friends, family and coworkers to sponsor your efforts. You may be pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of support!
