Welcome to One Brick Los Angeles!

If you are joining us from our meetup page we are delighted you have followed us here to our new home.  As you explore our new page you will see familiar faces, memorable photos from past events, and the same leadership team which will be bringing you even more frequent volunteer events paired with a chance to socialize.

If you are joining us for the first time, welcome to One Brick!  Check out our photos of past events to get a sense of what we have been up to and what we are all about which is Volunteering Made Easy.

We make volunteering easy by:

  • Curating volunteer and social activities on an on-line calendar from which our members can choose to participate at their leisure and without recurring commitment.
  • Favoring meaningful volunteer opportunities that allow us to work in a group setting providing the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.
  • Having an Event Manager at each gathering to guide volunteers and make events hassle free, all while ensuring an enjoyable experience.
  • Hosting enjoyable post-event social gatherings!
We are thrilled that you are here and we hope to see you at an event soon.  If you have any questions please let us know . As you find events, please invite your friends to register and join us, and as you share the activities that you enjoy with others, we would welcome your mentions on Facebook and Twitter.

Meet the Leaderhsip Team

Bill Hyatt
LA Chapter Co-Founder,
Event Manager

Bill's background is in real estate finance with stints at firms including iStar Financial, JP Morgan / Chase, and Price Waterhouse.
Before co-founding One Brick's Los Angeles chapter, Bill was a volunteer and Event Manager with One Brick in San Francisco.
He has an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago and a BS from the University of North Carolina.

Mary Beaven
LA Chapter Co-Founder,
Event Manager

Mary's skills are in video production - shooting and editing, but she loves volunteering with One Brick (and is quite handy with a pair of knitting needles as it turns out!)...   She was living in San Francisco when she first discovered One Brick.  It was such a great experience that she decided to become an Event Manager and help start the LA Chapter of One Brick.
San Jose, California is her birth place and she has always lived in Northern California, but she moved to Los Angeles a year ago and is actually quite fond of it now...mainly because she's had the opportunity to meet the "cream of the crop" in LA...  All the awesome One Brick volunteers!

Meng Vue
LA Chapter Co-Founder,
Event Manager

Meng discovered One Brick in Chicago and decided to help bring that goodness to Los Angeles.  Meng designed and establish the L.A. One Brick Meetup site and helps maintain the Los Angeles Chapter. He has a BFA in Computer Animation and has created award winning animations in the Film and Video Game Industry. He is currently an Animator at Sony Computer Entertainment.

About One Brick

One Brick brings volunteers together to support other non-profit organizations by adopting an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering, and after each volunteer event, we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or cafe where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting.

Our 'commitment-free volunteering' allows you to choose when you volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.
